what is the funeral fix?

The Funeral Fix is a learn-at-your-own-pace, 8-module online program covering all aspects of Funeral Celebrancy. Created and coached by two Funeral Celebrants and Planners, Oliver Thomson and Yaz Trollope, you’ll learn everything you need to know about writing and planning funeral ceremonies, honouring grief and working with it, looking after yourself (and your clients) and much more.

who is The Funeral Fix suitable for?

The Funeral Fix is for anyone with an interest in Funeral Celebrancy and a passion for honouring life and death in new and meaningful ways. Whether you’re a Marriage Celebrant looking to up-skill, a Funeral Planner wanting to expand your offering or someone who’s always had a desire to work in the death space and feel like now is your time - The Funeral Fix is for you!

How does The Funeral Fix Differ from other funeral celebrant training?

1. It’s written and coached by two Funeral Celebrants who also happen to be Funeral Planners, so the insights and teachings you receive are unique in that they really help you learn what’s needed in your role as a celebrant from both perspectives.

2. The Funeral Fix is modern in the way it approaches end of life events, encouraging students to bring more modern and meaningful practices into rituals, readings, ceremony structure etc when it comes to curating a service.

3. The tone of voice, delivery and mission of The Funeral Fix is completely unique. Our mission is to create a community of passionate Funeral Celebrants who are committed to elevating the standard of farewells in Australia and overseas. We want our graduates to ask questions, rebel a little, mix things up... not just ‘do what’s always been done’.

4. The community will also be a big part of The Funeral Fix, working together to elevate knowledge and educate the broader community on their options.

5. Finally, our content is really comprehensive. We dive deep into self-care and working with grief, marketing your Funeral Celebrant business online and being valued-based in your role as a Funeral Celebrant, as well as actually teaching you how to write ceremonies. We also provide you with a stack of tools and templates to use so you can confidently start working in this space as soon as possible.

Will I receive certification?

Yes! Upon completion of your assessment and receiving a pass mark, you will receive certification from us for successfully completing all the modules in The Funeral Fix course.

What type of certification will i receive?

Upon completion of The Funeral Fix (within 6 months and with a pass mark from your assessment), you will receive a certificate of completion from us. 

The topic of certification and accreditation is a complex (and often contentious) point of discussion, however to become a Funeral Celebrant in Australia you don’t need any official accreditation or certification. 

While there are some government accredited courses out there, we’ve purposely gone down the certification route as we wanted to ensure the most dynamic, modern training available.

While we do offer certification, we believe the most important type of recognition is industry recognition. Industry recognition is based on industry experience and reputation, and we’ve seen The Funeral Fix graduates being sought out by modern Funeral Directors looking for more progressive celebrants to work with their clients.

Industry recognition is the shining star that proves you’re capable of writing and delivering meaningful funeral ceremonies. It allows you to tap into the incredible network of Funeral Celebrants all on a mission to elevate the standard of ceremonies in Australia (and around the world) and move in line with the passion-fuelled energy that Yaz, Oliver and everyone at The Funeral Fix pours into teaching. 

While this is a lot of information to take in, at the end of the day, at The Funeral Fix, our top priority is making sure you graduate from our course ready to deliver incredible funeral ceremonies. You’ll receive invaluable feedback from our coaches and community to make sure you’re set up for success from day one, and that you’re ready to be hired.

I’m already a funeral celebrant, will i learn anything new?

Absolutely! Every ceremony is so different and utilising new skills, process and tools will only give you a fresh new perspective and spark new creativity and inspiration in you.

how will i access the course content?

We’ve made accessing The Funeral Fix course content effortless. All you need to do is click to sign up, go through the cart process and voila! An email will hit your inbox with a link to your Student Access page and a link to the private Facebook group. It really is that easy.

HOW LONG will it take me to complete the funeral fix?

Upon signing up, you will have immediate access to all 8 modules within The Funeral Fix to work through at your own pace. We advice working consistently and thoroughly through the content rather than rushing it, but everyone is different. You might smash it out in 3 weeks, or take a more leisurely 3-6 months.

HOW LONG will I Have access to the online Course?

You have access to the course content (and any updates) as well as the Facebook Community group forever.

IS THE FUNERAL FIX 100% ONLINE?

You betcha. As long as you have an internet connection, you can do the course. Plus you can download the course content to your smartphone, tablet, or computer so that you always have access to the PDFs and templates.
